About Us

Healing Broken Hearts

Living in the Middle East for over twenty years has afforded Sarah Mattix a first hand perspective of the trauma women face in this troubled region. After years of counseling women from diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds she has learned to empathize deeply with their tragic plight. This book is a collage of their stories that sheds light not only on their grievous experiences but also on practical ways of engaging them and helping them toward wholistic healing. Sarah also shares her own struggles and how God has used them to better equip her in her trauma and crisis counseling. Subjects covered include: sexual abuse, domestic violence, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, coping with grief, self harming and more.

Our Aim

This ministry aims to show Christ’s love in practical ways to women battered by domestic abuse and military conflicts in the Middle East. Since 2016 we have provided young ladies a place to stay in Cyprus and scholarships to study at the local universities. We also help women who are fleeing life-threatening situation in their homes or countries. The first group of 8 ladies from Iraq/Syria finished their studies and moved on to careers in different places. Since January 2022 we have begun to help women at risk who are fleeing Afghanistan by enrolling them in a local university, providing with a place to stay as well as trauma counseling. As of January 2023, more than 30 women have come to Cyprus with this scholarship project. Those that have come have responded well to counseling and some have shown interest in the gospel. They also attend classes regularly and interact with local believers. We hope to continue helping women at risk in the coming years even as we care for the women in our charge now. Our hope and prayer is that by encountering the generous love of believers in this way and advancing their education they can become an example of Christ’s transforming power in their society.

Strong Together

Banafsheh has been involved in this ministry since the very beginning. She is in charge of distributing the monthly allowances to each girl, counsels them on a weekly basis, and is a person that this ministry could not have been possible without. We are thankful for her heart of compassion, service, and love.
